Meet the teacher: Winnie Wilson Goree

Winnie Wilson Goree, founded Atlanta Voice Lessons and Singer's Resources in 1996. Ms. Goree has more than twenty five years of teaching experience. She received her masters degree from Wichita State University, and her teachers and coaches have included Janet Yenne, Irene Callaway Harrower, George Gibson, Vernon Yenne and Walter Huff. Winnie currently studies voice with renowned soprano, Meredith Zara, head Professor Emeritus from Michigan State University. Ms. Goree is a member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing and is Vice President of the Atlanta Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon.

She has sung with organizations including The Atlanta Opera, as a fellowship award singer with The Choral Guild of Atlanta, and as a soloist with many of Atlanta's largest cathedrals and churches. She has been alto soloist for Mozart's Coronation Mass, Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi Gloria, and many other major works. Winnie has toured as a soloist throughout the United States, Germany and Austria, including singing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Accompanist: Karen bunn

Accompanist, Karen Bunn, serves as the organist for the Hispanic congregation at The Cathedral of St. Philips in Atlanta, Georgia. Karen received degrees from the University of Tennessee in piano performance and piano pedagogy. Karen is involved with the Atlanta Symphony Associates, and is on the Executive Committee of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

ACCOMPANIST: JUDY BOEHM

Judy Boehm earned a scholarship to the University of Texas, Arlington, to study jazz and classical music while performing with the UTA Jazz Band.  After graduation she received a graduate assistantship to obtain her Masters in piano performance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX.  She accompanied for both student and faculty recitals as well as performing with the TCU Jazz Band.  She had the honor to work several years as a piano accompanist for the late vocal coach Dr. John Large.  She also accompanied for the TCU Dance Department and Opera Workshop.  While in her last year at TCU accompanied for a Van Cliburn workshop class.  

Her talents led her to perform a piano duo with the Fort Worth Symphony and for several years became the dance class accompanist for the Fort Worth Ballet. Judy has had many professional affiliations while in Atlanta and has organized The Class Act Band under her leadership which has been busy performing at many Private Parties, Balls, Charity Fund Raisers, Conventions, Corporate Events and numerous Special Events.  Among her most memorable experiences were performing for the ‘94 Super Bowl benefit for the hungry, “The Taste of The NFL,” sponsored by Coca-Cola. Class Act Band performed for the Tenth Anniversary of the High Museum of Art at the Woodruff Arts Center, “The Taste of the Nation”, Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Opera Ball, The Peach Drop, The Atlanta Falcons, Emory University Gala and many others.

COACH ACCOMPANIST: DAVID D’AMBROSIO

david d'ambrosioDavid D’Ambrosio, coach accompanist, is Director of Piano Instruction/Accompanying at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.  As a member of the faculty for 20 years He has performed four piano concerti with the Agnes Scott College Community Orchestra and an arrangement of a Rachmaninoff Prelude with Choral accompaniment with the Agnes Scott Collegiate Chorale among many other recitals with vocalists and instrumentalists.
 
D’Ambrosio graduated from the Julliard School with a master’s degree in piano performance, where he was a student of Ania Dorfmann.    D’Ambrosio has performed as keyboardist with the Atlanta Civic Opera and its Opera Studio, and was a member of an opera ensemble that toured throughout Metro Atlanta schools under the auspices of Young Audiences of Atlanta.  He has frequently served as an adjudicator for piano festivals and competitions.
             
For the past 27 years Mr. D’Ambrosio has served as official staff accompanist of the Southeast Regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions.  He has also collaborated with principal singers of the New York Metropolitan Opera.
 
David has accompanied Atlanta Voice Lessons students for at least ten years.
